2nd Saturday, April 13th, we’re hosting HackCarleton (carleton.party) a 12-hour hackathon exclusive for Carleton students to experience what a hackathon is like and turn their ideas into reality!
Here’s why this event will be great for you:
- Hackathons are a great thing platform to learn new skills and build projects from idea to prototype
- You get to work on a challenge sponsored by various campus departments OIIL, Career Center, ITS, etc.
- There are prizes to compete for and great opportunities to beef up your resume
- This fantastic event is right here on campus, absolutely FREE!
- THERE’S NOT TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE NEEDED! Contribute with an idea, design, code, or team spirit!
The broad theme this year is “Building tools for future Carls,” and each of our sponsors will have a challenge (to be announced morning of Hackathon)! We encourage all students who’ve had an idea to improve Carleton life to attend the hackathon!
You will prototype an idea (a website, a game, etc.) responding to the topic that we will announce at the event. This is usually a software programming event, BUT STUDENTS DON’T NEED ANY TECH/CS EXPERIENCE! They can contribute to the group in any way like sharing their idea or designing the prototype. After the Hackathon, you’ll get to present to our judges, and we’ll decide winners for various prizes!
